About Teer Result
The Shillong Teer is a local competition run by the Mount Casey Archery Sports Academy where around 30-50 archers shoot arrows at a target. Once the total number of darts hit the target is counted, the last two digits are declared as the result for the day. For example, if 1020 arrows hit the target, the result is 20. There are 2 rounds of shooting every day except Sunday. The first round (FR) starts at 15:30 and ends at 15:45 with the announcement of the result, eg 20. The second round (SR) starts at 16:30 and ends at 16:45 with the clock announcing the second result.
Tar is a legal game governed by the Meghalaya Amusement and Betting Tax (Amendment) Act, 1982. The winner is not determined by a draw of lottery numbers, but by the number of “tars” (arrows) that hit the target. According to the local government, there are an estimated 5,000 tar counters/gaming establishments in Meghalaya and an estimated 1,500 in Shillong. Players can bet anywhere from Rs 1 to Rs 500 and can win up to Rs 80 per Rs. The competition was organized by the Khasi Hills Archery Sports Association, which consists of 12 clubs from the Assamese village of Themmarwet, near Khanapara, Ri Bhoi District, Meghalaya.
